Utilizes Proven Thermal Transfer Technology to Offer Fast, Durable and Low-Cost Printing Directly Onto CD-R and DVD-R Media
Inscripta is ideal for businesses of all types who duplicate their own optical media such as CD-Rs and DVD-Rs and need an efficient and highly professional method of labeling the discs.
It prints high-resolution text, graphics, logos and photos in any combination using monochrome black or two-color ink ribbons utilizing 610×305 dpi variable-speed Thermal Transfer print technology for durable and waterproof printing onto ordinary, inexpensive and readily available lacquer-surface optical discs. The printer can print onto a wide variety of 120 mm discs such as CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RAM and DVD-ROM.
Print speeds are very fast at just 5 to 10 seconds per disc (actual printing time in monochrome mode). For users who wish to add a splash of highlight color or a color logo to their CD designs without significantly reducing print speed or increasing cost, Inscripta is the first Thermal CD printer to offer two-color ribbons. Several different two-color combinations are available such as black/red, black/green and black/blue.
The resin-based Thermal Transfer ink ribbons produce crisp, clear text, graphics and photos at a resolution of 305 dpi. Thermal Transfer inks have three distinct advantages over other technologies for printing onto 120 mm optical discs: (1) printed images are extremely robust and are highly smear- and scratch-resistant; (2) the ink is waterproof; and (3) cost per print is low.
Inscripta's built-in ribbon-saving mechanism uses only the amount of ribbon necessary for printing the desired image, making cost-of-use as low as possible. Drop-in ribbons are easy and fast to change.
Printer driver software for Windows 98/ME and 2000/XP is included. Inscripta uses a standard Centronics-type parallel interface, making it compatible with virtually all Windows-based PCs. A mini-DIN connector for OEM autoloader interfaces is also included, which controls tray in/out and other printer functions. The printer's outer steel case can also be removed for OEM applications and allows Inscripta to be mounted inside a standard, full-height drive bay.
